Why a fee range is not a price tag
Ranges reflect choices, territories, and formats. A single number can hide all of that.
Many franchise fees and costs come as ranges, not single figures. A range can mean several things.
Common reasons for a range
- Format. A kiosk, an inline storefront, and a freestanding unit cost different amounts.
- Territory size. Larger or more populated territories may carry a higher fee.
- Multi-unit deals. Agreements to open several units often change the per-unit fee.
- Discounts. Some systems discount fees for veterans, conversions, or existing owners.
Why we don't pick a midpoint
The midpoint of a range is not the most common outcome. It is just arithmetic. Showing it as "the cost" would suggest a precision the source doesn't claim.
What we do instead
We show both ends, the reason for the range when the source gives one, and the year. If the source doesn't say why the range exists, we say that too.
