Using local population and traffic data carefully

Context for a location, not a forecast for a business.

Franopolis shows public data near a location: population and income from the Census, local employment from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and traffic counts from the Federal Highway Administration.

    What it's good for

These sources describe an area: how many people live there, typical household income, how many cars pass on nearby roads. They are useful context when thinking about a market.

    What it can't do

None of this data predicts how a specific franchise would perform at a specific address. Traffic counts can be several years old, and Census figures are estimates with their own margins of error.

    Our labels

Each figure shows its source, the year it describes, and a link to the original agency data.
